Mali Blues
(OmdtU) 2016 Music Documentary
The West African country of Mali is considered the birthplace of the blues. Traditional music has held Malian society together for centuries. But Mali’s music is in danger. Radical Islamists are imposing Sharia law in the north of the country, banning dance and secular music, destroying instruments, and threatening musicians. Many fear for their lives and are fleeing the region around Timbuktu and Vidal.
