Rudeboy: The Story of Trojan Records
Nicolas Jack Davies, United Kingdom, Jamaica, 2018, 86 min
We are showing the original version (unfortunately without subtitles)
RUDEBOY is a film about the origins and enduring love affair between Jamaican and British youth culture. The film explores the power of music to break down cultural barriers, transform lives, and pave the way for a modern multicultural society—told from the perspective of one of the most legendary record labels in history, TROJAN RECORDS. Combining archival footage, newly filmed interviews, and drama, RUDEBOY tells the story of Trojan Records and places the label at the center of a cultural revolution that unfolded in the public housing projects and slums of the late 1960s and 1970s.
Admission is free; donations are welcome. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 34 people for the film screening. If you’d like to reserve a seat, please send a quick email to: post@art-of-buna.de
