Steffi Krohmann: MI MANCA
Steffi Krohmann has been forgetting her own shopping for 15 years because she has her eyes on the ground as she searches for shopping slips in other people’s hands, baskets and shopping trolleys. What actually fascinates us about these everyday snippets? Everyone knows them, almost everyone uses them, everyone is familiar with them. Limited in validity and useful, they always harbour their transience. The fact that they are carelessly thrown away is their fate. Perhaps this also explains their appeal: once removed from their transience, they grow beyond their pure function and information content. They provide random insights into other people’s lives – and become a projection screen for our own everyday lives.

A note for everyone!
Mi Manca is not just a collection of shopping slips – above all, Mi Manca is also a project that invites artists from a wide range of fields to engage productively with the shopping slips. There is no predetermined way of dealing with them: Photos, illustrations, texts, music, typography, a culinary realisation … The different positions are brought together and shown in this exhibition.
